Initial Consultation
The initial consultation consists of meeting at the client's home or place of business where the work is to be performed to discuss project feasibility, design concerns, ideas, and budgeting. Our first step is listening to your needs, desires, and budget. We then interpret those needs and desires into solutions that are creative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. We also advise you on how to best control costs without sacrificing project integrity.
Feasibility Consultation
A rough estimate and a proposal are created outlining the requirements set forth during the initial consultation. This can take a week or two depending on the initial scope of the project. We meet with you to discuss the proposal, specifically what we have estimated based upon what you had communicated to us during the Initial Consultation.
Decision Point
Once you decide that the project is feasible and within budget constraints a decision has to be made whether or not to proceed. If "yes", then we move into the design phase of the project.
Design Phase
Once you have approved the preliminary design, our design team starts working on detailed plans and specifications. This is contracted separately from the construction phase since we are able to provide better cost estimates when plans and specifications are available. During this stage we will conduct a basic study of the home or office space including systems performance testing, measurements, initial drawings, a check on zoning restrictions, etc.
Selections and Final Design
Westring Construction and the owners will meet with the design professional to review the initial plans and to be sure that all aspects of the project are identified and included. These meetings allow the client and builder to "red-line" the plans and ensure that all selections are being made. The design professional makes the changes and we meet one last time to ensure accuracy. The client then signs off on the master design construction documents. The design phase of the project can take up to a month or more to complete.
Subcontractor Site Visits
The subcontractors will use the new plans and visit the site to review the project and determine the existing conditions so that estimates can be made on their aspect of the work. These subcontractors are typically the mechanical and electrical trades but may include others. Westring Construction receives the quotes from the subcontractors and presents the final estimate amount to the client via a fixed construction contract.
This phase of the project can occur towards the end of the Final Design and usually does not take more than one week to complete.
Construction
During the construction phase of the project demolition or carpentry crews arrive, all permits are procured, dumpsters are in place, and temporary barricades are erected (if necessary).
Westring Construction conducts progress meetings throughout the life of the project: a pre-construction meeting, a pre-drywall meeting, a substantial completion meeting, and a final walk through. Ad hoc meetings as needed or requested are also conducted during this phase.
The result of our detailed process is greater efficiency in production, more control over costs, better communication, greater accountability and a smooth transition from design to construction. Once the project is complete, your Project Manager will walk through the project with you and devise a "punch-list" for all final touch-up items. This final step assures your satisfaction.
Our formal and informal communications ensure that all your questions are answered, expectations are met, and that your project remains on schedule and on budget.
Project Completion
Westring Construction will deliver a substantial completion certificate, a 1-year warranty on the work performed, and will ensure delivery of all product warranties. At Westring Construction, we stand behind our quality workmanship on every project. We will follow-up with a detailed client satisfaction survey so you can tell us about your experience.
Energy Conservation Services
Westring Construction is proud to deliver Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®. Here's how it works:
A potential customer initiates a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® evaluation through a Qualified Consultant. The completed evaluation includes a Request for Proposal that the customer supplies to an Allied Contractor.
The Allied Contractor will schedule a time to meet with you to look at the job and review the scope of work with you. We will then deliver a formal proposal.
After the proposal has been accepted, a start date is determined. Depending on the scope, the work may take more than a day to complete.
After the work is completed, the Allied Contractor performs a post-test to ensure that the goals and objectives have been achieved.
It is then the responsibility of the owner to schedule a post-test by the Qualified Consultant. The consultant verifies that the air sealing and insulating requirements were met. The consultant completes a form outlining the rebates due you, and within a month or so, a check is sent to you!
