James Westring combines a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Administration with 29 years of hands-on and executive experience in the building industry.
Starting with his first construction job at the age of 16, James has experience in framing, siding, inside trim, and historic home preservation and restoration.
James' career in construction includes successful work as an Estimator, Buyer, Purchasing Manager, Safety Director, and Contracts Administrator for both residential and commercial contractors.
After working as Project Manager for a commercial general contractor and a national homebuilder, James founded Westring Construction in January 2003. With a passion for problem solving, an understanding of good design, and meticulous attention to detail, James works hard to create unique, personal environments for every client.
When he isn't in the office or on a job site, James keeps busy restoring his own vintage home in Madison's Greenbush neighborhood. He's also active in local organizations; James chairs the Ethics Committee for the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), serves as President of the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation, and is actively involved with his sons in Little League.
Testimonials:
"When we purchased our 40's ranch-style home last summer, we had a vision of what it could become and James Westring made it possible.
Neither of us had worked with a contractor before, but James helped
us along the entire way, guided us in making decisions and the
results are amazing. Our home is exactly how we had envisioned it.
The entire process was handled professionally, with consideration of
our neighbors, to us, our home and to the environment. James
suggested we do everything possible to become a "green-built"
certified home, which involved some extra work on his part, but we
followed his suggestion, and became the first certified "green-built"
re-modeled home in the State of Wisconsin.
James' attention to detail, the level of professionalism, and the
obvious love he has of his job, has made our home a showcase we love
to share with neighbors, family and friends. Thanks James."

"We used Westring Construction when renovating our kitchen. All of the
employees were helpful and easy to have around. Our kitchen turned out beautifully. It was not only on budget but ahead of schedule. We would definitely use them again!" S. K. in Middleton
"Westring Construction recently completed a project to install a family/handicapped accessible rest room at our church. We were impressed and pleased with their effective management of the project and its budget." W.D. First Baptist Church, Madison
"We have used Westring Construction for several projects in our home over the past few years. Whether big or small, each project has gone smoothly, finished on time, and within the budget. James does a great job of collaborating with us to define the project. He works with us to understand our vision and makes suggestions. He is sensitive to maintaining the original character of the house, while adding modern enhancements. We have been so pleased with the results that we have recommended Westring Construction to family and friends, and plan to use them again in our next house." Brian and Amanda M, Madison
